Re: Herts monthly meet
I am in Bedford so could make it down, a Tuesday or Wednesday would be better though dues to unfortunate working hours. Also, I am on L plates, so have to watch out for routes as motorways are off limits. (Could use the car but that sort of defeats the object of a bike meet!).

Re: Herts monthly meet
So are we talking about the first meet being on the Thursday the 2nd of August?
I like the idea would have to be and afternoon though where abouts in Hitchin are you thinking.
I have the other issue to Torro125 that Tuesday and Wednesday are out the question that week. (that doesn't mean I dont want to meet Torro125 its just the way its panning out I would love to see his 125 and him )

Re: Herts monthly meet
Yep, 6pm August 2nd and if we find we need to change the date we can do this the month after.
I'm going to leave it to all if we meet for a ride or just meet for a pint/social. I'm easy with doing either.

Re: Herts monthly meet
Agreed, but will need a couple more to attend. Looking a bit quiet at the mo.
I'm thinking Orange Tree 100 Stevenage Rd, Hitchin, Hertfordshire SG4 9DR 01462 432733 as this is used by motorcyclepitstop.
Or even join them on a Wednesday? motorcyclepitstop.co.uk

Fine for some, but what about those who do not use Facebook?
Their page is protected, meaning it can only be accessed by logging in to Facebook, this excludes me. I have personal reasons for deleting my account on there from many years ago and I do not have any desire to make myself locatable via that medium. I appreciate it is OK for others, and I am not really complaining, they can do as they please I am no concern of theirs, just remarking that some are excluded by their choice of location.

Hi Torro125 what I will do is post up the next meet for hbb bikers on here its normally on a Saturday morning 10:30 at dunstable downs. And they say they are 125 friendly.
Also in the mean time there is a local biker group that meets at the robin hood pub in clifton reynes on a Wednesday night. Thats every week i've been there they are a nice lot and shouldn't be to far for you i'm planning to go again this week if I can find a sitter

Re: Herts monthly meet
Thanks for that Andy.
It's about time I had a free night, so shall give it a couple of weeks (need cash for now) and pop along. Test is arranged for next month, have to do mod 1 again, cos I clipped a cone in the last 3 seconds! Extremely irritating as everything else was done OK and I would have just had the road test then. Oh well, it is reassuring to know that I have done everything for them correctly, just have to watch for over confidence now. Then I get the fun of choosing a bigger bikle ....

Re: Herts monthly meet
Glad to hear your getting there doesn't sound like it will be long before you will have to change the numbers after your name Torro..... to be anounced Its so worth it but I'd like to meet the 125 before you get shot of it so if you can make a meet would be nice. But that doesn't mean I dont want to meet you once you have upgraded lol

Re: Herts monthly meet
I had to think of a user name quickly, so put the bike name in, perhaps I should re register. I have a distinct impression that this is a shared bulletin board with a single user registration database, as it wouldn't let me have my name of choice, which is a bit of a bore. If you are going next week, I shall arrange the evening off and come along. PM your mobile number and I can call when I get there. Now that I have a better headlight bulb in it, being out at night is not so scary. The original bulb was more like a glow worm.
I intend staying below 750cc when I pass the test, and don't really have much of a clue as to what sort of bike to look for. I like V twin engines just for the look of them. I like the sound of the old thumpers too. (Child of the 60s/70s, brought up on Easy Rider). But, I find the riding position on the GSX500 (for training) to be more comfortable over time, leaning forward instead of sitting upright. I expect it will all come down to what is available and how much I have to spend, in the full knowledge that something better and cheaper will turn up almost immediately afterwards!
What I do find amusing is all these people criticising Chinese bikes, and how superior Japanese bikes are. Thing is, I remember the exact same words being used for Japanese bikes when they first started being imported here. Bit of arrogance from British bike manufacturers and we all know the result.
Anyway, let me know which Wednesday and I'll come along. It's about time I did something social, I haven't been out socially for 3 years (at least).

Re: Herts monthly meet
I've started a new tread for the meet and its the 22nd that i'm going i'll pm you my number. And you are right in what you say about the japs and chinese bikes but I do feel they still need to come on a bit and i'm sure they will.
V twins are a great engine and produce lots of low down useable power as well as good engine breaking. I take it then you will be looking for a cruiser style bike then?
